Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help to tease out dirt from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by a lot. The rotating mop spins at a high speed and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scraping away dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful for getting into tight corners and along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to pick up larger objects such as books and toys that have been damaged.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't create more noise when mopping or vacuuming. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's easy to install and works well however this is something that you'll need to keep an eye on in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't a big deal apart from the fact that mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between use which could lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's an impressive sight in an industry dominated by boxy units.
