1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and Best Robot Hoover support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, Robot Hoover offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and best robot hoover washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto vacuum and mop-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning robot mop and vacuum settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
