Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out."
