It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant.
