The class C commercial driver's license (CDL) offers a diverse selection of vehicles and trucking jobs. From recreational vehicles and buses to passenger vans, and even hazardous transport vehicles, this is one of the most versatile CDLs that are available.

You can drive straight trucks or box trucks dump trucks, buses that can carry 16 or more passengers including the driver.

Passenger Vehicles

New York drivers can choose from a range of license classes. These classes are tailored to meet the needs of different driving styles and types. Understanding the different classes is essential, whether you're planning to drive down Broadway in your parents' 1986 Toyota Corolla, Kup Prawo Jazdy A A1 A2 bez testu or pilot a truck through the Adirondacks.

If you are looking to drive passenger vehicles such as station wagons and sedans the non-CDL class C license is the best choice. This license allows you to drive a single vehicle with an GVWR of up to 26,001 pounds. You can also tow vehicles up to a maximum trailer load of 10,000 pounds. Drivers can add endorsements on their class C licenses for greater possibilities for employment. These endorsements include tanks (P), passenger (P), tanks (T) and hazardous materials (H). The maximum number of passengers that can be transported in a passenger vehicle with a class C non CDL license is 16, including the driver. To be qualified for a non-CDL class C license you must be 18 years old or older and pass a medical test. You must also meet federal requirements if intend to drive on interstates or transport hazardous materials.

Class M drivers are only able to use motorized two-wheeled vehicles. New York teens must complete an education course and record practice hours before they can obtain their class M license. Some endorsements you can add to your class C license are the P-passenger endorsement as well as the T-double or triple trailer endorsement for California and the H-hazardous substances endorsement. These endorsements are typically added by passing a knowledge test, and sometimes a skills test.

Towing Vehicles

A category C + E licence is one of the most comprehensive HGV licences that you can obtain which permits drivers to operate a range of large trailers and vehicles. This includes double and single trailers with an authorized maximum mass (MAM), up to 8,250kg. It also permits drivers to drive articulated vehicles like coaches and lorries, and also the drawbar-type vehicle known as an artic or tipper truck.

As well as passenger cars and trucks drivers who have the category C license are able to operate small commercial vehicles, such as dump trucks, vans, and Kup Prawo Jazdy A A1 A2 bez testu straight or box trucks. If they possess the required endorsements, they may also drive buses that carry more than 16 passengers for hire as well as vehicles that transport dangerous materials.

Tow truck operators are a different type of driver who requires a category C licence. Tow truck operators usually use tow trucks that have an GVWR that is less than 26,001 pounds. They can tow other vehicles so long as the vehicle's GVWR is lower or equal to the towtruck.

This is an optional extra to the category C licence and some employers only require their drivers to have an T licence for specific tasks. Some drivers opt to obtain it to improve their chances in the industry and also to prove that they are able to operate a more complex vehicle.

Hazardous Materials

A Class C commercial driver's license is required to operate any vehicle designed to transport more than 16 passengers including the driver. HazMat vehicles are included in this category as well. This category includes trucks with tanks that are rated, as well as passenger vans and smaller HAZMAT vehicles. The person who holds a class C CDL must have an endorsement for tanks and could be required to pass the hazard material knowledge test.

The DOT has developed specific rules for the transportation of hazardous substances. These rules outline guidelines for shipping labels, papers placards, and other related topics. Drivers who do not follow the rules could be charged with a DOT violation and be subject to fines and penalties.
