The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
