The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map.
