The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot vacuums best hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning robot mop and vacuum schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, Best Robot Hoover it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum that vacuums and mops we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
